Pharmacists’ ‘Heart Of The Nation’ Is A Thought-Provoking Listen

A punkish offering from the William Porteous-led project...

Pharmacists have bounced back with brand new single, ‘Heart of the Nation’.

A thought-provoking release from the William Porteous-led project, the track presents some of the songwriter’s most challenging lyricism to date. Reflecting on the current refugee crises, ‘Heart of the Nation’ is charged with stark imagery, distorted acoustics and potent drum sections, introducing a punkish spirit to the artist’s work.

Cutting his teeth playing to New York dive bars and London hotspots, Porteous is shifting his focus. At first a means of escapism, the musician now taps into themes of grief, loss and social discourse, elevating each track with an impacting resonance. Drawing parallels to Wreckless Eric, Kurt Vile and Tom Petty, the artist approaches his craft with a fresh determination, growing his fanbase in unique directions.

Speaking on the track, Pharmacists shares: “I wanted to take a huge chorus and put something I believe in behind it. I wanted to leave something of myself out there.”

Tune in now.
