There's a stunning sense of breadth to Petite Noir's output.
A true multi-disciplinary artist, his 'noir wave' approach is about opening up conversation and breaking down boundaries, providing fresh definition in the process.
New release 'La Maison Noir / The Black House' is out now, and it's accompanied by an audacious short film.
A collaboration between Red Bull Music and the Noirwave, the latter is made up of co-directors Tim Weyer of Iconic Agency and creative director Rochelle Nembhard, as well as dancer and choreographer Manthe Ribane, art director Gabrielle Kannemeyer and Petite Noir.
Filmed in Nimibia, it explores themes of rebirth across four parts, borrowing from Petite Noir's Congolese heritage and the four elements of fire, water, air, and earth.
He explains: “The Congolese cosmogram represents a constant circular motion of the element that symbolises rebirth. We all go through a rebirth every few years, and this visual album is all about rebirth.”
