English songwriter Peter Perrett has confirmed plans for new album ‘The Cleansing’.
The musician lead the Only Ones to cult acclaim, releasing some sublime albums and the golden single ‘Another Girl Another Planet’. Suddenly returning after a 30 year gap, his 2017 album ‘How The West Was Won’ gained enormous acclaim.
2019’s ‘Humanworld’ acted as a follow-up, with Peter Perrett now building a huge new solo statement.
Out on November 1st, new album ‘The Cleansing’ finds the songwriter continuing to challenge himself, gathering a vast cast in the process. The 20 song tracklisting boasts a raft of guests, including Johnny Marr, Bobby Gillespie, Fontaines D.C.’s Carlos O’Connell and more.
With a video from old friend Douglas Hart, it’s a beautiful introduction to this new chapter. “I know some of the subject matter is death, suicide and depression,” Perrett notes, “but I feel there is an uplifting atmosphere to the album, because I’m obviously enjoying recognising what is going on around me.”
