Indie icon Pete Doherty will stand trial in Gloucester Crown Court on December 21st facing drink driving charges.
Pete Doherty has often felt the grip of the long arm of the law. Even back in his Libertines days the singer was no stranger to a night in the slammer, and served a jail term after plundering bandmate Carl Barat’s flat.
Since then, the singer has released several records with Babyshambles as well as a recent solo project. However Pete Doherty has never quite learned to curb his behaviour, often falling foul of the police.
A show in Dundee found Doherty given an on the spot fine for drinking alcohol in a public park. However the gig launched support group The View to stardom so swings and roundabout, we suppose!
Earlier this year Pete Doherty endured a traumatic spell. An arrest in Switzerland after doing drugs on a plane was swiftly followed by a trip back to England. This ended in disaster, though, with the singer being arrested for drink driving.
After performing in Gloucester the songwriter allegedly attempted to drive despite being rather worse for wear. Careering across the road Pete Doherty was stopped by police and questioned over his whereabouts.
Yesterday (October 1st) Pete Doherty appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to driving dangerously. Judge William Hart described the alleged offence as on the “bottom end of the scale” of dangerous driving.
The trial in December is set to last for two days, with Doherty also being accused of drink driving, drug possession and driving without a license.
