Pet Shop Boys Tube Shooting Tribute

Band write song for Menezes

Synth pop duo Pet Shop Boys have written a new song about the controversial shooting of Jean Charles De Menezes.

The band erupted back into public prominence recently after winning the ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’ award at the Brits. The two piece group have sold millions of albums around the world, but have also retained a controversial edge to their music.

The new song addresses the case of Jean Charles De Menezes. Brazilian immigrant De Menezes was shot eight times by police on a train two weeks after the July 7th terror attacks.

According to reports in The Sun newspaper, the track, entitled ‘We’re All Criminals Now’, has the lyrics: “Waiting for a bus in Stockwell/Cameras on my back/Suddenly hearing sirens/Sounding a panic attack.”

“Got the bus to the station/Music playing in my head/Ran to get on the tube train/Police shoot someone dead’.”

The track is taken from the band’s new single ‘Love Etc’. The single is the first glimpse of the Pet Shop Boys new album ‘Yes’. The group’s tenth album, a taster of new material is available on the Pet Shop Boys Myspace page right now!

Pet Shop Boys release new album ‘Yes’ on March 23rd.
