Pet Shop Boys have shared new double-single, ‘New London Boy’ and ‘All the young dudes’.
It’s been a massive year for the legendary synth-pop duo, who released their internationally acclaimed album ‘Nonetheless’, before holding down a career-spanning residency at London’s Royal Opera House.
Closing the year in emphatic style, Pet Shop Boys have just shared something new. ‘New London Boy’ is given a radio edit, a snappier take on a reflective song that looks back on the sensory rush of coming to London as a young kid.
Available digitally, it comes with a cover version of the David Bowie-penned ‘All the young dudes’ produced by James Ford with orchestral arrangements by Anne Dudley.
The connection? The lyrics of ‘New London Boy’ feature Neil Tennant looking back on first coming down to the metropolis in 1972, the height of the glam era – and of course, the Bowie-penned ‘All The Young Dudes’ was one of the year’s defining singles.

The bundle also includes a different ‘Delinquent’ version of ‘All the young dudes’ produced by Pet Shop Boys and an extended remix by Richard X, plus a previously unreleased song, ‘Beauty has laid siege to the city’ – which was written and recorded in 2020 and uses a quotation from the 19th century illustrator, Aubrey Beardsley, as the title.
The CD singles will be released on Friday, November 15th and are available to pre-order now. The cover art (which you can see up top) for the first format/CD1 features a photo of Neil taken that year when he first moved to London, while the second format/CD2 cover is a picture of Chris shot in 1981, the year he arrived in the city.
