Synth pop overlords Pet Shop Boys are set to release a new ‘Greatest Hits’ compilation on November 1st.
Pet Shop Boys are a pop institution, seeming to tap into something universal in the British psyche. Camp, deeply sarcastic yet undeniably catchy the duo have scored a stunning two decade run of hits.
Given a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the BRITs, Pet Shop Boys seem rejuvenated. The band’s 2009 album ‘Yes’ was a definite return to form demonstrating that Neil Tennant’s barbed wit remains undimmed.
Now the duo have confirmed a new career spanning compilation. Pet Shop Boys are set to release ‘Ultimate Pet Shop Boys’ on November 1st, containing some of their finest hit singles to date.
The band include everything from classic 80s hits such as ‘West End Girls’ to more modern tracks. Charting their rise to pop fame, the compilation is a fantastic introduction – if needed – to the duo’s career.
Fans of course would have these hits on multiple formats, so Pet Shop Boys have included some bonus material. Alongside the single tracks the DVD version will include BBC performances from the past three decades.
Meanwhile, Pet Shop Boys performance at Glastonbury this summer will be included in its entirety. A visually stunning experience, the duo artfully blend a near balletic sense of dance with those unstoppable hits.
Alongside the new package, Pet Shop Boys are planning to release the track ‘Together’ as a new single. No release date has been confirmed, with more information due on the band’s web site HERE.
