Pet Shop Boys Are Releasing New Music

As part of their Annually book...

Pet Shop Boys are set to release new music later this year.

The seminal pop duo are currently preparing the release of a print publication, the 2023 edition of their Annually book. Due to hit shelves on April 14th, the 64 page hardback tome will include an exclusive four-track CD EP titled ‘Lost’.

Here’s the tracklisting:

According to the group’s Neil Tennant, Pet Shop Boys written and recorded the songs as demos back in 2015, using studios in London and Berlin. Initially mooted for their excellent ‘Super’ LP, the songs were not used, “not because we didn’t like them,” says Neil Tennant, “but because they didn’t fit the album.”

Grouped together as an EP, ‘Lost’ works as a unit because “they all sit together quite well, production-wise, they’re all super-electronic,” and also “some of them are sort of relevant to the world at the moment”.

‘Lost’ borrows its title from EP track ‘The lost room’, but “it also seems to represent a sort of larger, philosophical or political point, where there’ve been times recently where the world feels a bit lost in terms of the direction it’s going in.”

All songs on the EP were written and produced by Pet Shop Boys, and mixed/engineered by Pete Gleadall. Cover artwork is by Farrow/PSB.

‘Lost’ will also gain a digital release in April.

Pet Shop Boys will bring their Greatest Hits tour to the UK this summer.
