Pet Shop Boys will release new album ‘Nonetheless’ on April 26th.
The legendary group have completed work on a project that returned them to familiar pastures, while also embracing new ideas. ‘Nonetheless’ was produced by James Ford, primarily working at his East London studio – yet it will also be released on Parlophone, arguably the duo’s spiritual home.
Out on April 26th, ‘Nonetheless’ – we’re tempted to view this title as a coded reference to feminist slogan ‘nonetheless, she persisted’ – will be accompanied by five performances at London’s beautiful Royal Opera House.
New single ‘Loneliness’ is out now, a wonderful, breathlessly intoxicating piece of synth-pop. James Ford undoubtedly adds a frisson of something fresh, but in truth this is classic Pet Shop Boys – redolent of pop glories, profoundly intelligent, and uniquely affecting.
A CD version follows on February 26th, with Pet Shop Boys describing the song as “uplifting music with reflective lyrics”.
Tune in now.
