Perel came of age in the East German city of Halle, studying and making music amid the abandoned Soviet era buildings.
Later moving to the culture hub of Berlin, her take on electronic production is steeped in hardware, in fusing the analogue with the defiantly modern.
New album 'Hermetica' – a reference to a series of Egyptian-Greek didactic texts, doncha know – arrives on April 20th, with the producer exploring matters both personal and aesthetic.
New song 'Alles' is online now, with the crisp, sub-zero synths recalling Joy Division or early Eurhythmics, while the hushed vocal offers Perel at her most exposed.
Minimalist pop with a marbled early 80s grandeur, it bodes well for Perel's incoming debut LP. Tune in now…
Catch Perel at London's XOYO on May 12th.
