PAWS are to release their debut album ‘Cokefloat!’ through Fat Cat Records on October 1st.
PAWS formed at school. All three members have been in other bands (and might well continue to do so) but PAWS is what happens when Philip, Josh and Matthew sit down in a room together and make music.
Releasing a split seven last year, PAWS then signed to Fat Cat. Playing shows in whatever town would permit them entrance, the band then followed this with a limited edition cassette that was all blossoming potential; guitars powered by teen angst, chugging bass and drumsdrumsdrums.
Debut album ‘Cokefloat!’ will be released on October 1st. It’s the end of a pretty big time for all three members, and finds PAWS pulling together the various threads which have burrowed into their lives over these past 18 months.
“The 13 tracks that make up the album are a mixture of old and new” Philip explained recently. “We just picked 13 puzzle pieces from our catalogue that we could piece together to make a final picture, representing the past 2 years of our writing. The choices all came comfortably and they flowed together without much thought”.
Recorded by Rory Bratwell, the title comes from a comic strip which featured in a ‘zine the band helped out last year.
