Pavement Need You!

One lucky fan to play onstage

Pavement are searching for one lucky fan who will be able to play onstage with them on American television.

Pavement have always had a close relationship with their fans. Denied mainstream success, the band’s output was snapped up by a rabid fan base who seem to relish every slice of B-side related trivia.

Returning last year, the news was greeted with massive applause. Beginning in Australia and New Zealand, Pavement’s comeback tour was an overwhelming success which rolled back the years without seeming like an exercise in nostalgia.

Gearing up for a massive show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Pavement are set to play on Stateside chat show institution Jimmy Fallon. A high profile slot, the band have decided to get their fans involved.

Organised with long term label Matador, Pavement are planning to let one lucky fan play guitar with them on American TV. In a press release the label said:

“Ever wanted to go to a TV taping? One where Pavement is playing? Stick around to try and meet the band? Go backstage? Watch soundcheck? Eat their food? Talk fantasy sports with Malkmus?”

“Ever wanted to, you know, get your lazy ass off the couch and JOIN PAVEMENT? Then do it, goofball…”

To enter, just video yourself playing along to one of the applicable Pavement tracks and submit it to ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’. The closing date is tomorrow (September 8th) with fans able to vote for their favourite.

Online voting begins on Monday (September 13th) and ends next Friday (September 17th) – good luck!

Pavement are due to play ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ on September 23rd.
