British songwriting hero Paul Weller is set to tie the knot with one of his backing singers.
Paul Weller seems to be defying the ageing process. Whereas most songwriters of his generation are stuck on the pub circuit, marking their time in an increasing spiral of irrelevance, the Modfather has released some of the most daring music of his career.
With ’22 Dreams’ in 2008 the singer defied label demands to produce a lengthy concept album. Following this with lengthy tours Paul Weller capped the year by winning ‘Best British Male’ despite being twice the age of some entrants.
Releasing his new album ‘Wake Up The Nation’ earlier this year, Paul Weller seems rejuvenated. One of his most unexpected releases yet, the new album is a ferocious record inspired by British political apathy.
Now according to reports Paul Weller is set to get married. The singer was married once before, to his backing singer Dee C Lee. The pair had two children before filing for divorce in 1994.
Since then, the singer has enjoyed a long relationship with Samantha Stock which resulted in two more children. After the pair split Paul Weller began a relationship with backing singer Hannah Andrews.
At 24, Andrews is some 27 years younger than Paul Weller. However that hasn’t stopped the relationship with the two due to get married, according to reports on Music News. “It’s funny to think that after all these years I’ve finally met my soulmate – and at my age. All I can say is that I am very, very much in love.”
He added: “Because she’s so much younger than me, the press was all, it’s a midlife crisis – ‘Wrinkly Rocker’, ‘Mutton dressed up as ram’, ‘Old enough to be her ‘Modfather’, but it isn’t like that. We’re really in love and that’s that.”
There has been no official comment from Weller’s camp.
