Paul Weller Prepares Record Store Day Release

Containing two new tracks...

Paul Weller is lining up the release of a new seven inch single in time for Record Store Day.

Paul Weller is in the midst of a creative resurgence. Taking new risks, abandoning old formats the songwriter has been able to shrug off his past and embrace something thrilling, something unheard.

So news of a one off single naturally gets the Clash team pretty excited. Available in time for Record Store Day, 'Flame-Out!' and 'The Olde Original' are set to be pressed onto collectable seven inch vinyl.

According to the details we've been given, 'Flame-Out!' is an up tempo rocker in keeping with recent album 'Sonik Kicks'. Flip-side 'The Olde Original' meanwhile, is said to be something more pastoral – perhaps in keeping with that folksy, superfluous 'e' which Weller has tagged on there…

Released on Virgin Records, the packaging is a nod towards the label's counter culture roots. Roger Dean – famed for his 70s illustration work – has supplied the design for a gatefold sleeve, which is housed in a Virgin house bag featuring the ‘Virgin Twins Logo’.

Here's a quote from Paul Weller: “It’s great to do a record that’s released specifically for Record Store Day. There's so few record shops left that we should all treasure those remaining”.

'Flame-Out!' b/w 'The Olde Original' is set to be released on April 20th.
