Paul Weller has confirmed details of a new live album and DVD recorded at the Royal Albert Hall.
More than three decades after he released his debut single, Paul Weller seems to be rejuvenated. Recently winning a BRIT Award, his latest album ‘Wake Up The Nation’ was nominated for the Mercury.
A spiky, passionate blend of his trademark Mod pop with post-punk textures ‘Wake Up The Nation’ was his angriest effort in some time. Directly political, the album took aim at the establishment with Paul Weller refusing to bow out gracefully.
Part of the singer’s continued appeal is his heavy touring schedule. Paul Weller has always believed in playing live as often as possible, and despite entering his 50s the singer plays several nationwide tours as year.
Recently selling out London’s historic Royal Albert Hall the singer recorded the show for posterity. Now a new DVD will allow fans to soak up the action from their armchair, alongside a host of extras.
Taken from the five night run at the venue, ‘Find The Torch, Burn The Plans’ is due to be released on November 29th. The release will contain DVD and audio versions, recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall.
Paul Weller was joined by Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones at the show, while bonus features recorded at BBC Theatre feature Richard Hawley and Lauren Pritchard.
Elsewhere, ‘Find The Torch, Burn The Plans’ contains a potentially quite exciting indeed documentary courtesy of Julien Temple. The director recently finished an acclaimed biopic of Dr Feelgood – an important influence on the young Paul Weller.
Complete with bonus features, the new DVD looks to be a worthwhile insight into an important stage in Paul Weller’s solo career.
Paul Weller is set to release ‘Find The Torch, Burn The Plans’ on November 29th.
