British songwriting icon Paul Weller is planning to release a huge DVD box set titled ‘Just A Dream’.
Hailing from the small town of Woking, Paul Weller’s deeply English songwriting sensibility has made him a profound influence on modern music. Beginning with The Jam, then through the Style Council and his solo career Weller has scored more hits than we care to mention.
More than thirty years after he first stepped out onstage with The Jam, Paul Weller is still challenging himself and releasing vital new music. Just last year the songwriter defied his record label to release the double album ’22 Dreams’.
One of Paul Weller’s most ambitious recordings to date, ’22 Dreams’ blended the songwriter’s love of pastoral folk with stomping Mod soul groovers. A stunning critical success, Weller followed the album’s release with several lengthy British tours.
However the best was yet to come. Earlier this year Paul Weller was given the ‘Best British Male’ gong at the Brit Awards. Receiving the trophy from Adele in a video broadcast, the pair couldn’t stop themselves from laughing – Paul Weller is more than twice the age of some nominees.
The new box set will be released next month and contains a 21 track live session recorded for the BBC, as well as a five track performance culled from the archives of Channel 4.
Titled ‘Just A Dream’ the box set spans the length of Weller’s career, containing early classics from The Jam such as ‘Eton Rifles’. Focussing primarily on the singer’s solo career, the new box set contains many tracks from last year’s ’22 Dreams’.
Alongside this fans will find music videos for ‘Have You Made Up Your Mind?’ and ‘Echoes Round The Sun’, plus an interview with Weller and his band. The package is completed by an accompanying live CD which features 13 songs recorded live at London’s O2 Academy Brixton venue last year.
Paul Weller will release his new box set ‘Just A Dream’ on June 8th.
