74 Track Rarities Set

Mod icon and legend of British music Paul Weller is set to release a massive 74-track box set collecting the best of his recordings for the BBC.

Paul Weller has dominated modern British music like few other artists - trends come and go but still the Modfather churns out relevant, challenging music. The 74 songs on the box set were recorded between 1990 and 2008 for the corporation, and include some absolute gems.

Amongst the reams of exclusive and unreleased material are covers of Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On?' and The Who's 'Magic Bus'.

As well as this there is a previously unreleased run through Ronnie Lane's ode to country life 'The Poacher' and a version of the jazz-funk classic 'Hercules'.

In addition to radio sessions and the obligatory Jools Holland appearance, the box set will also feature recordings from Paul Weller's headline appearance at the 1995 Phoenix Festival, as well as a 1992 performance in the Royal Albert Hall.

A 64-page booklet will accompany the box set, with contributions from Noel Gallagher, Bobby Gillespie and Tim Burgess amongst others.
