Maximo Park singer Paul Smith has confirmed a new book of photography alongside his solo album.
Paul Smith has always been much more than your average indie frontman. Maximo Park tend to veer into unusual lyrical territory, with the dramatic singer coming into his own during live performances.
Set to turn solo later this year, Paul Smith has recorded an album with some close friends. More intimate and acoustic in tone than his work with Maximo Park, ‘Margins’ is set to be released through his own Billingham Records.
However the frontman is not finished yet. Paul Smith is a keen photographer, and has arranged a new collection of his snaps.
‘Thinking In Pictures’ is set to coincide with the release of his new album, and spans five years on the road with Maximo Park. Whittling down his collection of Polaroids, the book will contain 74 images with a copy of ‘Margins’ inserted in the back.
“I’ve always been interested in documenting what surrounds me and as a touring musician I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world” Paul Smith said. “It would be easy to allow the days to blur into a whole, but one way to combat this is to create your own map of a day using pictures.”
The first 1000 copies of the book to be sold will contain a signed bookmark. Click HERE for more details!
Of course, ClashMusic knew about Paul Smith’s hobby. Maximo Park kept a tour diary for us, with the Newcastle band turning in a collection of Polaroids which was by turns revealing and bewildering.
