Patrick Wolf has confirmed details of his new single ‘Time Of My Life’ and a new album.
One of Britain’s most unpredictable pop stars, Patrick Wolf has a genuinely unique songwriting voice. At times venturing into the operatic, his material is imaginative, engrossing and extremely ambitious.
Yet he is also difficult to predict. Releasing ‘The Bachelor’ in 2009, Patrick Wolf revealed that the record was to be the first of two chapters. Due to be followed by ‘The Conqueror’ the singer has confirmed details of a new album, but it remains to be seen if things go to plan.
Set to be released in 2011, the first track fans will hear from the album is the forthcoming single ‘Time Of My Life’. Due to be released on December 6th, the track will be released on the new label Hideout Recordings.
Available on a limited edition seven inch, ‘Time Of My Life’ will also be released as a digital download. Featuring a cover of Leonard Cohen’s track ‘Anthem’ on the flipside, the single is a lush ode to love.
“‘Time Of My Life’ is a song that I began writing at the end of a relationship in 2006 and then finished three years later during a temporary break up in my current relationship” revealed the singer.
“The new album has a direct narrative about love and optimism surviving through adversity and recession. I wanted to celebrate the love and hope I have found in the last few years.”
Meanwhile, Patrick Wolf is set to break cover for a special London show. Taking place at the Bloomsbury Ballroom venue on December 7th, the show promises to be a typically outlandish affair.
Revealing details of two warm up shows, Patrick Wolf is preparing to play the following dates:
December
5 Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach
6 Guildford Boiler Room
7 London Bloomsbury Ballroom
