Paige Bea has returned with her latest single ‘Melt’.
An electronic addition to her usual lo-fi and R&B-tinged sound, the track utilises bouncy synth pads atop expansive keys for a voltaic sound. “I melt with you” sings Bea as the chorus hits, spacey saturated synths reminiscent of James Blake (who is also referenced in the track).
‘Melt’ was borne from heartbreak, exploring the ebb and flow of a relationship from the privilege of retrospect. The latest reinvention since her 2019 EP ‘Burnout’, Bea explains:
“It was written in that phase where you’re trying to pull away from someone but you’re still vulnerable to them despite their emotional unavailability. The song’s key point is how a physical connection and attraction can override the ups and downs of the emotional one.”
The track has been released alongside a hazy music video, featuring a single shot of a blurry Bea kneeling amongst bokeh lights, twinkling like her synths.
The singer-songwriter has had a busy year, playing live with Rachel Chinouriri, Harvey Causon, and Clara Mann after two sold out headline shows.
We can’t wait to hear ‘Melt’ live at her next one.
Tune in now.
