Outkast’s Big Boi Arrested – Reports

Rapper detained in Miami

Outkast rapper Big Boi has reportedly been arrested and charged with possession of illegal drugs.

One half of Outkast, Big Boi erupted back onto the hip hop scene last year with the sublime ‘Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty’ album. Pushing him back into contention, the rapper recently played a stunning set at ATP.

Now, though, it seems that Big Boi could be facing trouble with the authorities. The rapper recently went on a cruise, but when searched on his return to Miami police reportedly discovered quantities of illegal drugs.

American website TMZ has reported the news, with Big Boi apparently found in possession of ecstasy pills, MDMA and viagra.

Real name Antwan Patton, the rapper was reportedly stopped at customs after police sniffer dogs alerted authorities. TMZ reports that the hip hop icon is to be charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, along with one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The website claims that Big Boi is currently being held on a $16,000 bond. Continuing, TMZ reports that he Miami-Dade County Corrections Department had confirmed all three charges were felonies.

The news stops a remarkable period of activity from the rapper. Last year’s ‘Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty’ album was followed by rumours of new material from Outkast, while Big Boi was also due to enter the acting world.

The hip hop icon was approached to play Jimi Hendrix in a new biopic of the legendary guitarist. Work on the proposed movie has yet to begin, with Big Boi focussing on his own career and a new record label aimed at children.

However it is presumed that this schedule is set to be wiped clean if reports of the arrest turn out to be accurate.

Big Boi has yet to comment on the reports.
