Outkast are set to release three albums in 2009, with two solo albums and new Outkast LP due rapper Big Boi has claimed in a new interview.
Outkast has been on hiatus since the spectacular double album ‘Speakerboxx / The Love Below’. One of the few hip hop albums to be certified Diamond in America, it has sold in excess of 10 million copies. Since then the group have only released the soundtrack to their motion picture ‘Idlewild’ and hopes are high for the new album.
Big Boi and Andre 3000 are reportedly set to release solo albums at around the same time, early in 2009, with a full Outkast release following. Big Boi told MTV that “Me and ‘Dre were on the conference call. He’s working on his album; my album is done. We’re gonna wait until the top of the year – January or February – to put it out.”
“Then ‘Dre is gonna come hit y’all, and we’re gonna do the Outkast album. So y’all gonna get three records from the ‘Kast next year.”
The members of Outkast are set to release a total of three albums next year.
