Montreal artist Ormiston has shared his new ‘Hammer Down’ EP in full.
The creative all-rounder released a full studio LP with the same name last year, earning widespread plaudits in his native Canada.
A unique brand of indie pop complete with electronic overtones, Ormiston keeps the fires burning with this new EP.
Out now, it’s a special remix endeavour hinging on the title track of last year’s full length. Das Mörtal seizes upon the electronics of the original, placing them front and centre. French Fox lifts the energy levels a little, but perhaps the pick of the bunch is Fred Falke’s take, soaked in analogue electronics.
The producer comments: “The original song had such a cool vibe that I was immediately inspired to pull out some of my old analog gear. I used my beloved Yamaha CS80, Llinndrum and an Ensoniq ASR-10m to make the instrumental sounds – like a time travelling machine in the studio”.
