Glasgow clubland institution Optimo have revealed more details of their upcoming Fabric mix.
Optimo are a phenomenon. Formed by two outcasts from the world of techno, their ‘no rules’ policy has seen them become one of the most influential club nights around.
Mixing live acts with DJ sets, Optimo’s weekly sessions as The Sub Club have gone down in history as possibly Scotland’s most important club night. Currently on tour in Australia, the duo recently confirmed the sad news that they are to stop their Sunday night residency at the Subbie.
Leaving fans devastated, Optimo are planning a series of special events to countdown to the last ever Sunday night set. Confirming news of a new Fabric mix, the DJ duo have now unveiled the complete tracklisting.
Due for release on May 10th, the upcoming ‘Fabric 52’ mix sees Optimo on typically eclectic form. The DJ team who decided that vintage Detroit techno goes pretty well with The Beatles, the Glasgow based duo mix breaking sounds with lesser known classics.
Fad Gadget has the honour of opening the mix, with the likes of Discodromo, Berlin giants Basic Channel and The Minister all following.
UK Funky don Roska gets the nod, with his debut cut ‘Feeline’ mixed between what appear to be two slices of South American disco. As you do.
Finishing with Xex ‘Heartbeat’ the mix is surely set to go down as one of Fabric’s finest to date. Don’t forget – the final Sunday night Optimo takes place on April 25th.
