Infamous Glaswegian DJ team Optimo are set to unleash a new mixtape through Domino records on October 27th, it has been announced.
Beginning in 1997, Optimo’s weekly Sunday night shindig has become the thing of legend. Their ‘anything goes’ music policy can see them leap from hardcore techno to country to swing era jazz in a matter of moments. Named after a track by New York punk funk outfit Liquid Liquid, the night has played host to bands such as Hot Chip while The Rapture called it the best club night in the world. Wow.
Still in their weekly residency at The Sub Club in Glasgow, Optimo are now a world renowned clubnight. New compilation ‘Sleepwalk’ is a glimpse into their record box, and contains such varied delights as Nurse With Cold, Duke Ellington and cult folkie Karen Dalton.
