Open Mike Eagle has laid out plans for new album ‘Another Triumph Of Ghetto Engineering’.
The American artist sits emphatically in his own lane, recording work other rappers can scarcely imagine. Last year’s ‘Component System With The Auto Reverse’ rightly won acclaim, melding his natural gifts to some fantastic production.
New album ‘Another Triumph of Ghetto Engineering’ is out on August 16th, featuring nine tracks. The acerbic tracklist seems to mock the wider landscape for rap artists – ‘A New Rap Festival Called Falling Loud’ anyone?
In a note, Open Mike Eagle comments:
“In the ghetto we never stop toiling! These songs are all fancy ways of saying ‘fuck you’ to people that ignore us and ‘thank you’ to people that care if we live or die! Pay close attention to the song titles! This is another triumph of ghetto engineering! I took that cover photo. Thats my mama’s hand!”
