of Montreal To Release New EP

'The Controller Sphere' due

Kevin Barnes has confirmed that of Montreal are set to release new EP ‘The Controller Sphere’ in the Spring.

Loosely connected to the Elephant 6 collective, of Montreal are an explosion of pop energy. Wildly ambitious, the band’s music seems to cohesively mix slick mainstream R&B to avant garde textures.

Recently performing with Solange Knowles on ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ the group are preparing to release their new album ‘False Priest’. Set to be released on September 13th, the album is the product of intensive recording sessions.

However it seems that material left on the cutting room floor will now gain a full release. of Montreal are planning to issue a new EP in Spring 2011 containing material left off the finished version of ‘False Priest’.

“There’s three songs that we were initially going to put on ‘False Priest’ that we decided to cut at the last second” Kevin Barnes told Consequence Of Sound.

“I haven’t decided which I want to put on there” he continued “but there’s a lot of material to choose from.”

Meanwhile, of Montreal are gearing up for a new European tour. Opening in Dublin on October 3rd, the dates include a short stop off in the UK before the American group travel to the continent.

British dates include a show at Glasgow’s QMU, while the short run will conclude with a performance at London’s KOKO venue on October 6th.

Expect of Montreal to remain on the road for some time. The band recently confirmed a joint tour with soul sensation Janelle Monae, with a number of North American tour dates being announced.
