Oasis Win Video Award

But who gets the trophy?

Manchester musical giants Oasis have picked up a trophy at the UK Music Video Awards.

Oasis have always been praised for their videos. The band seemed to immediately grasp the importance of their visual appeal, going to some lengths to craft a unique identity with their music videos.

From the neo-psychedelia of the mid 90s through to the witty group shots of more recent times, Oasis have allowed the visual element of the group to develop in tandem with their musical changes.

Now a recent short film crafted to promote new album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ has won one of the top awards in Britain.

‘Dig Out Your Soul In The Streets’ was shot by The Malloys and features a variety of buskers in New York playing songs from the group’s album.

The inventive promo seems to have worked – ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ became the group’s highest performing album in the United States for a decade.

The film was hailed as “a piece of work that extends the definition of the medium of music video, and the visual representation and promotion of music generally, through the most innovative and creative use of technology”.
