The man who attacked Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher onstage in Canada has been sentenced.
It may have been a moment of madness by one fan, but for Noel Gallagher being attacked onstage at Canada’s V Festival has had long lasting repercussions. At the trial of the man accused of attacking him, the guitarist claimed that he was still feeling the effects of the incident.
Daniel Sullivan charged at the Oasis man from behind the amplifiers, smashing him to the ground. Severely bruising his ribs, Noel Gallagher was forced to take time off in order to recover.
Allowed to give a written statement at the trial, Noel Gallagher didn’t seem in the mood for forgiveness. Now engaging in a solo career, the guitarist has recovered enough to appear in the new Adidas advert.
For his part, Daniel Sullivan pleaded guilty to the assault causing bodily harm. Now a court in Canada has sentenced the attacker, who has avoided jail.
Daniel Sullivan will be sentenced to twelve months house arrest for the attack at V Festival in 2008. The fan will be still be able to work under the terms of the sentence, with Sullivan not making a statement to the press.
Noel Gallagher, meanwhile, has been busy kickstarting his solo career. Performing two shows at the Royal Albert Hall the singer opened with the classic Oasis track ‘It’s Good To Be Free’.
Meanwhile, a recent interview indicated that the former Oasis songwriter would begin work on his debut solo album over the summer.
Noel Gallagher has not given a statement on the sentencing.
