Oasis Rule Out Splitting

But they will take a break...

Manchester indie icons Oasis are set to take a break, but have re-affirmed their ambitions to continue touring and making records.

By pulling out of V Festival at the weekend Oasis seem to have opened a can of worms. Although Liam Gallagher was revealed as suffering from viral laryngitis rumours immediately started that the group were to split.

British tabloids have seized on the debate, with many wondering what Oasis have left to offer. The group recently completed their biggest UK tour in a decade, and had played a host of stunning festival dates.

However the band have always had differing ambitions. Liam Gallagher recently launched a fashion range named Pretty Green, while brother Noel Gallagher revealed that he had begun writing songs for a solo album.

The pair have a famously truculent relationship, and tabloids have seized on the rumours as a sign that all is not well in the Oasis camp.

Liam Gallagher sent fans a Tweet yesterday (August 24th) to apologise for missing the V Festival show. Now the band have taken the step of emailing their fans to re-affirm their ambitions.

A statement on the Oasis website said that “V Festival was always scheduled as the last UK gig for this ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ world tour”.

“Oasis will complete the rest of the world tour in Europe and then take some well-earned time off before they begin to think about the next album and tour.”

The last Oasis album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ was a massive success, but Noel Gallagher has claimed in some interviews that it will take the band five years to release a follow up.
