Oasis Reunion: CLASH Readers Give Their Verdict

It's a split verdict from the punters...

CLASH readers have given their verdict on the Oasis reunion.

It’s been the worst kept secret in British music – Oasis are back. Speculation reached fever pitch over the weekend, with Liam Gallagher headlining Reading Festival with a titanic headline set.

Shouting out his brother Noel Gallagher during a performance of ‘Half The World Away’, the moment was emblematic of a thaw in their 15 year long Cold War.

A few moments ago, Oasis confirmed their reunion, and laid out hugely ambitious plans for a mammoth series of biblical live shows in 2025. The band open in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium next summer, before hitting Wembley Stadium in London and Heaton Park in Manchester for four nights at each venue.

Peter Barlow writes: “Teenage me is very very excited indeed! But very curious to know the ins and outs of this happening, because I never thought we would see it… I am here for it and it is going to be mega!”

Fromthemeatcase is a little more cynical: “They were my favorite band in the late 90’s, but now I’m pretty indifferent.”

Looking at the reasons behind the reunion, Fernando Martinez says: “It’s like everything else in life it’s about money…”

On the CLASH Facebook page Peter Bailey jokes: “KERCHING!!”

Robert Middleton wasn’t impressed by the news: “I wonder if they will have turned into their own tribute band.”

In a weekend of social media fun, Miss Toppin put it best: “Forgot how funny Liam is on Twitter!”
