Oasis On Amy Winehouse

Singer 'Wiped Out By Fame'

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has given a new interview in which he discusses the pitfalls of fame, and claims that Amy Winehouse has been ‘wiped out’ by stardom.

With his ribs still bruised from an onstage attack in Canada, Noel Gallagher is commencing a UK tour with Oasis. The guitarist took time to speak to London listings magazine Time Out, in which he discusses the affects a sudden rise to fame can have.

Gallagher believes that fame has had little effect on him. “I’m not embarrassed by wealth or fame or stardom,” he said. “It’s what I was born to do.

“For some people that level of fame can hit you really fuckin’ hard. I’m not having a go at her, but the likes of Amy Winehouse have been wiped out by that.

“Whether people would care to admit it or not, that’s fame that’s done that. Sometimes people think they’re not worthy of it, so they build a shell around themselves which cannot be penetrated.”

Oasis are currently playing a sold out UK tour, which calls in at Wembley Arena tomorrow (October 16th).
