The Oasis juggernaut is set to pull into London’s Wembley Arena for a spectacular series of shows this weekend, but Noel and Liam Gallagher are already at each other’s throats.
In terms of musical siblings, Noel and Liam Gallagher are not exactly the best of friends. The pair are renowned for their dislike of one another, with Noel Gallagher having previously left the band as a result of his brother.
The one solace fans can take is that the sibling strife seems to spur Oasis on to greater heights. After being re-united with his brother Noel Gallagher wrote the classic track ‘Acquiesce’ which has become a highlight of the band’s set.
With their current UK tour taking them to their biggest dates in a decade, you could be forgiven for thinking that the Manchester group would be on top of the world. However Noel Gallagher took a swipe at his brother for misbehaving during a recent show.
Liam Gallagher was booed by fans after he told them to stop clapping. The singer told the crowd at the Ricoh Arena to “get your hands down”, adding: “This is Oasis, not fucking Simply Minds.”
In a new interview with Radio 1 Noel Gallagher claimed that he found his brother’s stance “hilarious but quite undignified”.
“I was quite angry about it later – in the middle of ‘Shock of the Lightning’, 50,000 people have got their hands in the air and he starts shouting at them to stop clapping,” Noel said.
“I was thinking, ‘That’s nice – you pay 70 quid for a ticket to be told what to do by the singer’.”
However Liam Gallagher isn’t the only one to suffer the wrath of the Oasis guitarist. Michael Jackson may be dead but the ‘Thriller’ icon came in for a verbal bashing on the musician’s blog.
“This Mike Jackson thing’s dragging on a bit, innit? Who do they think he is, Jade Goody?
“Listen out for the dedication tonight. There’s bound to be one. If it’s during Live Forever I may do a little poo-poo… then vomit.”
