American singer Pink has beaten off competition from both Kings Of Leon and Oasis to claim the UK singles chart number one slot, it has been announced.
Returning femme fatale Pink released her single ‘So What’ last week (September 29th) and it has flown into the UK charts to claim pole position. Returning Britpop heroes Oasis also released a single, with ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ only able to claim third spot.
Pink’s fellow countrymen Kings Of Leon were able to halt their slide down the charts, with their single ‘Sex On Fire’ holding on to number two. The group’s new album ‘Only By The Night’ remains at number one, despite competition from former Pop Idol Will Young.
Oasis will release their lucky seventh album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ this week (October 6th) and it has already scooped a number of favorable reviews with critics claiming it as the band’s best since the mid 90s. Oasis also have another cause for celebration – they are the cover stars for the new issue of Clash Magazine.
