NYC based Been Stellar have shared scuzzed out new single 'Kids 1995'.
The band's core songwriting team – Sam Slocum and Skylar Knapp – met in high school, before making their way to New York.
Playing any gig that would have them, Been Stellar formulated their set, igniting 90s reference points – think Pavement, Dinosaur Jr – while adding something fresh.
Newly signed to So Young Records, you can catch Been Stellar at Brighton's ever-essential new music showcase The Great Escape next month.
Aligning with this, new single 'Kids 1995' taps into their feral charm, building to that pop-edged chorus, so catchy and so illicit at the same time.
Been Stellar comment: "At the core of 'Kids 1995,' a narrator longs for a more simple view of the world. By examining himself and those around him, he realises that the world no longer holds the same meaning it did in his youth, and questions whether the meaning he once felt was just an illusion. Ultimately, the narrator comes to decide that this sort of thinking gets him nowhere, and decides to embrace the bizarre uncertainty of his life."
Tune in now.
