NUUXS Walks Clash Through ‘Red Tape Vol. 1’ Mixtape

It's a track by track guide...

NUUXS spent her early years in a cult, in a space where free expression wasn't exactly encouraged.

Perhaps that's why her music is so bold, vivacious, and colourful, a means to move past any lingering mental blockages.

New mixtape 'Red Tape Vol. 1' is the culmination of a summer of musical activity, pointed pop that veers from the sensual to the personal.

Songwriting that moves from heartfelt introversion to blistering 70s style disco, 'Red Tale Vol. 1' focusses on the endearing breadth of NUUXS' pop vision.

A highly independent pop talrnt, 'Red Tape Vol. 1' is another step towards complete freedom for NUUXS.

'Sweet Sunshine'
'Sweet Sunshine' is about two people very much in love and have been together for some time. In the beginning of any relationship, everything is so perfect and exciting. I wanted to talk about how the love changes and how the day to day monotony can get in the way of love.

This song is about not forgetting the first moment you met. The song was co-written with Zac Pajak and my producer Jake Gosling.

'Champagne'
This song is very sensual. I wanted to capture the essence of what 'Champagne' means to me, elegance, the celebration of two people coming together and catching each other's eyes and living in the moment. I embrace a bit of 70’s disco which I absolutely love listening to when I have friends over, it feels so sassy and sexy.

'No Good For Me'
'No Good For Me' is all about empowering oneself and not giving into toxic and negative people that can drain you and stop you from living your best life. It took me a while to understand that but it’s healthier to sometimes just say “you’re just no good for me right now”.

I hope it’s an anthem for people going through similar situations. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person if you don’t always say yes to people.

'Drunken Eyes'
This song is about the relationship between two people using each other when they’re lonely and can’t seem to shake each other. You could say friends with benefits going on here but that always leaves the sting of insecurity no matter what people say. It’s also a reflection on the consequences of 'Champagne'.

'Patient'
I wanted this to be a duet soon as I’d finished writing the first verse. It’s all about how you question someone’s love for you because of past experiences but know it comes down to patience when you seek that forgiveness because of your lack of confidence.

We often ask people we care about “Why do you like me? Why do you love me?” We can’t always see what other people see in us and it’s important to believe in love as hard as it is sometimes.
