Not3s’ ‘Son Of The Soil’ Is A Homecoming

Inspired by a trip to Nigeria...

Not3s has shared his new EP ‘Son Of The Soil’ in full.

The project was prompted by an emotional experience in Nigeria, where Not3s has extensive heritage. Visiting Lagos, he was invited to pay his respects at the grave of Fela Kuti, the legendary afrobeat pioneer.

During a conversation with Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist Bankulli, he was told that he belonged in Lagos – and that he should continue the afrobeats story as a “son of the soil”.

It’s this spirit which imbues his new EP. Succinct yet ambitious, its pan-diasporic sweep utilises aspects of Nigerian music and culture, but does so in a fresh way – it’s both an inside, and an outside view.

The  ‘Addison Lee’ and ‘Aladdin’ hitmaker turns towards his roots, with tracks like ‘Who Day 4 U?’ and ‘Offering’ carrying real richness, and depth.

Boasting guest spots from the likes of OdumodublvckMayorkun and Hamzaa, ‘Son Of The Soil’ carries a tremendous sense of personal fulfilment.

Tune in now.
