Nosila is bouncing back with his latest single, ‘Halfway (Waya)’.
Rich in acoustics and groove, the South Australian multi-hyphenate delivers an emotive turn in direction. Fusing together elements of pop, folk and indie, the track carries a unique momentum, building its chorus into an anthemic crowd highlight.
Developed across four years by multi-instrumentalist and producer Simon Hatch, the artist continues to shape his solo project following the acclaim of his debut EP, ‘Salud Amor Dinero’. Dedicated to his sister Alison, Nosila shares the significance behind the project: “I think for the most part, I write about what I think she felt and thought about, and how those thoughts and feelings somehow migrated over and on to me.” Across his work, the artist draws influence from the global talents of Guns ’N Roses, U2 and Jeff Buckley, expanding his following with a bright, introspective lyricism.
Speaking on his latest release, the artist explains: “I’ve always written fairly sad/melancholy music and this track was the first time I made a concise effort to write something more uplifting.” He continues, “The title Halfway somewhat speaks for itself. The song really has a dual meaning, from meeting and creating new relationships in undiscovered places (the halfway) as well as making compromises in relationships.”
