NoLay, AiiTee, Mace The Great have joined the line up for Pitch Scotland.
The event takes place in Glasgow, and aims to highlight and platform the strength of Scottish hip-hop and underground culture.
With artists operating in grime, drill, and other rap spheres, alongside a healthy R&B scene, Scottish music is so much more than the cliche of white chaps with cardigan and indie pop riffs (much as we love those bands!).
Indeed, Pitch Scotland has done sterling work in pushing back against prepositions, and facilitating fresh conversation.
The all-dayer includes performances, discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities, while the live showcase at the historic Saint Luke's venue boasts AiiTee (from Aberdeen), MC Salum (from Dundee, birthplace of Clash Magazine), MC LOTOS (Edinburgh), and Cardiff grime artist Mace The Great.
With a plethora of activities during the day, Pitch Scotland is an essential hook-up for anyone with an interest in underground culture.
Jamie Houston, Creative Scotland’s Music Officer, explains…
“It’s not before time that Scottish-produced Hip-hop, Grime and associated genres are reaching wider audiences and gracing the stages of some of the nation’s biggest festivals.”
“So too is the demand for active industry engagement and following the storming success of SAMA’s pilot networking, discussion and performance event in 2021, this year’s follow up programme is just as impressive, sure to draw the attention of industry and audiences at home and further afield. With more and more talent coming through, Creative Scotland’s backing of this this music sector is visibly increasing, and the work is only just beginning.”
Pitch Scotland takes place on August 27th.
