Noel Gallagher Talks John Lewis Advert

"At least it comes with a cheque..."

Noel Gallagher has given his thoughts on the use of an Oasis song on the John Lewis advert.

The songwriter has an avowed dislike of the festive season, and now finds 1994 B-side 'Half The World Away' conjoined with an enormously popular Christmas advert.

Speaking to Jo Whiley on Radio 2, Noel mused that the song "will forever be synonymous with Christmas from now on and, as is well known, it's not my favourite time of year".

"Having said that, at least it comes with a cheque, which, believe me, is highly worthwhile."

He added: "Don't go buying me John Lewis vouchers for Christmas, trying to be a smart arse, inside a card that says 'Noel'".
