Former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher has spoken of his ambitions to record solo material.
Noel Gallagher never quite fit into the lad rock template many carved out for Oasis. The singer had a previous career as a roadie, learning the tricks of the trade while on the road with Inspiral Carpets.
Always more down to earth than his rock star persona would suggest, Noel Gallagher has previously worked with dance acts such as Chemical Brothers and Death In Vegas.
Recently the guitarist recruited some special guests to remix Oasis. Tracks were handed over to the likes of Devendra Banhart and Amorphous Androgynous, with the results being some of the most fascinating music Oasis have been involved in.
Now working on his own after a controversial departure from Oasis, Noel Gallagher has spoken of his excitement at beginning to record music under his own name.
“I’m looking forward to doing my own thing, bringing out my own music,” he said.
“I’m glad that’s what people want to hear. I am not thinking about much else, Oasis or Liam, I’m just having a good time.”
Noel Gallagher has previously played solo concerts under his own name, including a show in London’s historic Royal Albert Hall.
Meanwhile brother Liam Gallagher is set to begin recording his own music, with the singer having used a solo track to advertise his clothing label Pretty Green.
