Noel Gallagher Recruits Choir

For his solo album

Former Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher is set to recruit a choir for his forthcoming solo album.

Don’t look back in anger, he once told us. Refusing to talk about the final split in Oasis, Noel Gallagher seems to be putting the group behind him with the songwriter playing two celebrated shows at the Royal Albert Hall recently.

Rushing through a number of songs from the Oasis back catalogue, Noel Gallagher kept the crowds riveted. Playing solo, the singer was joined at one point by the Crouch End Festival Chorus to sing backing vocals.

A celebrated choir, the group recently performed live with Elbow. Speaking to press recently, the choir’s conductor David Temple revealed that the Crouch End Festival Chorus have been recruited for Noel Gallagher’s solo album.

“I was speaking to Noel’s manager about this and I was saying to him, ‘We’ll get the very best out of the choir if we get any recording. It’d be in a studio, we’d love it.'”

Noel Gallagher has remained tight-lipped about any potential recording dates. The songwriter is working with a number of former Oasis band mates, including Gem Archer and Andy Bell.

However the new project will definitely not be called Oasis – a name Noel Gallagher now says he can’t stand. “It’s not Oasis. That was a s**t name anyway” he told press recently.

“I’m glad to see the back of it. There’s one that we’re digging at the moment, but we’re going to get on with the music and see how it goes. If we haven’t got a better one by then, we’ll go with the one we’re into.”

“We’ll be on stage this year, without a doubt. We’re halfway through the record – the demos, that is. We’re in the studio this April to see if this producer works out. If he does, we’ll crack on with the album through June and July.”
