Noel Gallagher On The Riots

"How stupid can you be?"

Noel Gallagher has blasted the people who took part in the riots which spread across Britain last week.

Sparked by a police shooting, the riots which engulfed Britain last week very quickly lost any kind of political or social purpose. Less of a protest and more an excuse to raid local shops, the disturbances caused huge damage to vulnerable communities.

Hitting Manchester, rioters looted Liam Gallagher’s Pretty Green store. More than £250,000 of damage was caused, with the shop being completely emptied of stock.

Liam Gallagher has yet to speak out on the riots, but his brother has not held back. Giving an interview to Bang! Showbiz, Noel Gallagher has blasted those involved and labelled the incidents “pointless violence”.

“I can’t understand where their energy for these riots is coming from. We live in this age of violence – and I don’t care what other people say: Brutal TV and brutal videogames are a reason for this pointless violence as well” he insisted.

“The people are immune to violence, they are used to it. And if they get caught they aren’t punished the right way. The prisons are already full? Then build new ones!”

Continuing, Noel Gallagher insisted that the people involved in the riots were not on the breadline. “It’s crazy! It’s just violence for the sake of violence. The people who are at these riots aren’t poor. These are kids with fucking mobile phones and all sorts of shit. The police and government have to take drastic measures.”

“These idiots destroy their own communities. In six weeks, when everything is forgotten, they will look stupid and realise that the houses are still destroyed, burned down or whatever. These people aren’t demanding anything, they have no goals. They just destroy their own shit. How stupid can you be?”

Finishing an epic rant, Noel Gallagher labelled the people involved as “stupid fucking idiots” and denied that there was a reason for the disturbances.

“There aren’t any reasons! There’s a guy who gets shot – a gangster if I may add that, who had a gun. If you live by the sword, you die by the sword! Then suddenly there are riots everywhere. There is no reason for that. It’s just pointless violence of fucking idiots.”

Noel Gallagher’s debut album is due to be released in October.
