Noel Gallagher on Duffy

Welsh singer "invented"

Welsh singer Duffy may have charmed the Brit Awards judges recently but Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher remains unimpressed.

Duffy broke through early in 2008 with her massive hit single ‘Mercy’. Undoubtedly the modern soul spin of last year, it became a soundtrack to everyday life, pouring out of radios across the nation.

The singer recently waltzed away with three Brit Awards, and also performed at the ceremony. The singer has also had notable success around the globe, with her debut album ‘Rockferry’ going platinum.

However, Noel Gallagher doesn’t seem to be a fan. The guitarist claims in a new interview that Oasis never had a plan, and that the over-thinking in the music industry is its downfall.

Gallagher told BBC 6Music: “You’d just see through it. That’s the Duffy thing. Good luck to her, nice girl, but you just feel that that’s been invented.

“It’s like they’ve gone,’Amy Winehouse, she’s got a black beehive, we’ll do a blonde one.'”

“That’s the problem with the musical landscape, everyone’s got clipboards. We were the first band to come along in years that made it look like a proper gig, like a laugh.”
