Returning indie-folk mavericks Noah And The Whale have offered fans a glimpse of their new album, with an amazing new free download.
Formed in Twickenham, Noah And The Whale are a product of London’s ever popular open mic circuit. Centred on singer Charlie Fink the group have worked with fellow acoustic types Emmy The Great and Laura Marling.

Snapped up by Vertigo Records, the band set about recreating their spectral magic in the studio. Debut album ‘Peaceful The World Lays Me Down’ was a triumph, bowling over critics and reaching number five in the charts.
Laura Marling boosted lead single ‘Five Years Time’ was a huge hit in the summer months of 2008, with festivals the length and breadth of the country resounding to its joyful refrain. However the ever productive group had a trick up its sleeve.
With fans still absorbing their debut album the group took different names and formed new band The A Sides. More electric drive than Noah And The Whale the band played a handful of live dates before releasing their debut EP late last year.
Never ones to stand still the musicians quickly dropped their pseudonyms again and began work on a new Noah And The Whale album’ Titled ‘The First Days Of Spring’ it is due to be released on August 31st this year, and is named after Dali’s provocative painting.
To date, not much is known about the new album. However curious fans have been granted an exclusive glimpse of the band’s new material with a stunning new download.

The band have been previewing new material of late, with singer Charlie Fink planning to create a film to run alongside the new album. In recent interviews the singer has stated his intention to write about the decline of a relationship, meaning that new material may be slightly less summery than their debut.
Released just a little over a year after their debut album ‘Peaceful, The World Lays Me Down’, Noah And The Whale’s new album should mark a new chapter in an already fascinating career.
