NME Award Show Winners

Full list unveiled

The NME Awards took place last night (February 26th) with winners including MGMT, Muse, The Cure and many more.

Love it or loathe it, the NME is still a talking point for most. However, we here at ClashMusic prefer to ignore the blooming thing – why try the rest when we make the best?

Anyway, big winners on the night were MGMT with two awards, including ‘Best New Band’ and ‘Best Track’. The Brooklyn group were followed by The Killers who won ‘Best international Band’.

Homegrown talent was recognised with Last Shadow Puppets winning ‘Best Video’ and Elbow scooping ‘Outstanding Contribution To British Music’.

The Philip Hall Radar Award is always a good indicator of prevailing trends, with last year’s winner Glasvegas going on to dominate British music. This year, the gong went to The Big Pink who picked up the trophy named after one of the music industry’s true greats.

The night was topped off by The Cure gaining the ‘Godlike Genius Award’ and performing a very special set. The goth legends remain a potent musical force, with Robert Smith shining with the attention of thousands pouring upon him.
