Nitin Sawhney Makes Comeback

New Album From Electronic Guru

Mercury-nominee Nitin Sawhney is set to return with another challenging album when “London Undersound” is unleashed on the public on October 13th.

Sawhney has been inspired by recent events in the capital to try and encapsulate a new mood in the city. “London Undersound” was created after Nitin Sawhney’s friend Natty witnessed both the 7/7 bus bombing and the shooting of the Brazilian Jean Charles De Menezes.

The new album features a host of collaborations, including some prominent parts by the afore-mentioned Natty. Also appearing on the album will be Anoushka Shankar, Tina Grace, Imogen Heap and Sir Paul McCartney.

Nitin Sawhney was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000 for his breakthrough album “Beyond Skin”. After beginning his musical career touring with the James Taylor Quartet, Sawhney has led an eclectic career dominated by his work on film scores. Interestingly, Sawhney was part of the “Secret Asians” comedy team that went on to metamorphosis into the sketch show “Goodness Gracious Me”.

“London Undersound” by Nitin Sawhney will be released on October 13th.
