Nino SLG’s ‘Mirror Story’ EP Is A Graduation Point

"It’s my most vulnerable project to date..."

Nino SLG has shared his powerful new EP ‘Mirror Story’ in full.

The South London talent is only 17 years old, yet he seems to have a natural gift for communication. Blending different strands of UK rap, he’s building his own sound, matching club reference points to subtle orchestration.

Out now, ‘Mirror Story’ rips down the veil on adolescent life in London, the story of a young Black British guy trying to make his way. Touching on mental health, anxiety, the pull of life outside the law, and the need for balance, it shifts between 90s boom bap hip-hop elements and sharp-edged drill production, while also utilising cello, piano, and other instruments.

A powerful and at times moving project, ‘Mirror Story’ marks the arrival of a bold talent. He comments…

My new EP is a story about the person I can see in the mirror. It’s my most vulnerable project to date, and I want people to see this side of me. Lyrically I’ve touched on materialism and everyday possessions, concepts and distractions to try and show how these steer people away from conquering the real problem which is usually themselves.

Musically, I’ve reflected the contrasting emotions in the lyrics by switching up the production as you move through the project. Mirror Story is about exploring myself and my emotions, in the hope that there might be other people out there who are feeling the same – I hope that my EP makes them feel understood…
