Nine Inch Nails Play Final US Show

Trent Reznor onstage announcement

Trent Reznor has stunned fans of Nine Inch Nails by announcing that the group have played their last ever show in the United States.

Nine Inch Nails were formed by Trent Reznor more than two decades ago, with the band’s line up continually changing. Reznor has remained the only constant, with the group rising to become hugely popular.

Crunching industrial rock, the band’s live show is the stuff of legend. Speakers the size of mountains, riffs that crash like ocean waves – they really do have the lot.

However Trent Reznor announced earlier this year that the group were due to take a hiatus. Issuing a statement to fans, the songwriter explained that he needed to take a rest and may launch another project.

A regular user of social networking sites, Reznor has been causing mischief all year. After playing an April Fool’s prank on fans the industrial icon memorably criticised Apple after the company banned a Nine Inch Nails track from the iPhone – despite being available on iTunes.

A huge fan of social networking sites, Trent Reznor recently slated Prince. The diminutive star released three albums earlier this year, and the Nine Inch Nails star didn’t rate them at all. Somehow we didn’t expect him to…

The band have been winding down all year, but still have the small matter of a world tour to finish. Playing a series of dates with Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails recently headlined the Bonnaroo festival in Tennessee when Reznor made the announcement.

Taking to the stage just after a performance by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Reznor told the crowd he may “lose my mind” if he continued working with Nine Inch Nails.

“It just dawned on me that this is our last show ever in the United States. Don’t be sad. I’ll keep going. But I think I’m going to lose my … mind if I keep doing this, and I have to stop,” reports the Associated Press.

Nine Inch Nails are set to play a series of dates across Europe this summer. Dubbed ‘Wave Goodbye’ the tour is due to take in a number of British festival appearances, with the band set to play T In The Park and Oxegen.

The dates have been organised as a farewell tour to mark the 20th anniversary of their first album, “Pretty Hate Machine.
