Niki & The Dove Prepare New EP

'The Drummer' due on October 17th

Swedish synth-pop duo Niki & The Dove are set to release their new EP ‘The Drummer’ on October 17th.

Formed just last year, Niki & The Dove have won a massive amount of attention in a short time. The duo’s moody synth-pop has resulted in a flurry of EPs, including the Sub Pop endorsed ‘The Fox’.

Defiantly pro-pop, the band’s music has a sparse, melancholic feel. Since they are Scandinavian, it is almost the law to refer to Niki & The Dove as ‘icy’ even if that is slightly overstating it.

Returning with a heavy live schedule, the duo have outlined plans for a new EP. ‘The Drummer’ is set to drop on October 17th, with Niki & The Dove explained that the release is a concept of sorts.

“The Drummer tells a story about a wrestle at night, in a no mans land, where everything is uncertain. It´s about the inevitable question of if you´re choosing the right direction in your life or not.”

Containing seven tracks, the EP opens with ‘Sundog (intro)’ before Niki & The Dove get into more meaty songwriting. The title cut is already making waves, with the electronics of ‘Last Night’ winning widespread praise.

Due for release on October 17th, the tracklisting for ‘The Drummer’ is as follows:

Sundog (intro)
The Drummer
Last Night
Mother Protect
The Breath Of The World (inter)
Manon
The Birth Of The Sun (post)
